Lists

Lists are the core organizational unit in Super Speedy Emails. Every subscriber belongs to one or more lists, and forms subscribe people to specific lists.

Creating a List

  1. Go to SSE Emails > Lists
  2. Click Add New
  3. Fill in the fields: – Name — the list name, shown to visitors on the subscription management page (e.g. “Weekly Newsletter”, “Product Announcements”) – Slug — URL-friendly identifier, auto-generated from the name. You can customize it. – Description — optional. Shown below the list name on the subscription management page to help visitors understand what they’re signing up for. – Status — Active or Archived
  1. Click Save List

Active vs Archived

  • Active lists appear in form configuration (for linking), on the subscription management page, and in the subscribers filter
  • Archived lists are hidden from all of the above but retain their subscriber data. You can reactivate them at any time.

Archiving is useful when you want to stop using a list without deleting its history.

Deleting a List

Deleting a list permanently removes it and all subscriber-to-list associations. The subscribers themselves are not deleted — they remain in the system and may still belong to other lists.

To delete: hover over the list on the Lists page and click “Delete”, or use the bulk action checkbox.

List Planning Tips

Start simple. One or two lists is fine for most sites:

  • A general “Newsletter” or “Updates” list
  • Optionally a “Product News” or segment-specific list

Name lists for your audience. Visitors see list names on the management page. Use clear, descriptive names:

  • Good: “Weekly Design Tips”, “Sale Alerts”, “New Product Launches”
  • Less good: “List 1”, “Marketing Segment B”, “Q1 Campaign”

Use descriptions. A short description helps visitors decide which lists to stay on:

  • “A weekly roundup of our best design articles and tutorials”
  • “Be the first to know about flash sales and discounts — typically 2-3 emails per month”

Connecting Lists to Forms

Lists don’t do anything on their own until you connect them to a form. When editing a form under SSE Emails > Forms, the “Linked Lists” section shows checkboxes for all active lists. Check one or more lists, and anyone who subscribes through that form will be added to all checked lists.

See Using Forms with Gutenberg for how this relates to the block editor.

Subscriber Counts

The Lists page shows a subscriber count for each list. This counts only subscribed members — not those who have unsubscribed. Click the count to jump to the Subscribers page filtered to that list.
